About the Conference

MERC’s Discover Maritime Innovations conference brings the climate change challenges of the maritime sector to suppliers, entrepreneurs, students, academics and other innovators in order to inspire research and development into new products and solutions that will make it easier to decarbonise maritime operations and promote climate resiliency.

Register now to come hear from passionate advocates for decarbonisation and knowledgeable leaders in climate change adaptation on land and sea.

Held conveniently in Sydney, one of the world’s greatest natural harbours, Discover Maritime Innovations will tap into the many marine businesses, innovation ecosystems, and universities from the Greater Sydney, Hunter, and Illawarra regions.

Key Features

The conference will include an exciting full day program, filled with useful content around the maritime sector and innovations.

Two one-hour sessions will split the venue into four streams across the many maritime sub-sectors, with panels of industry leaders and experts from each sub-sector talking about the key decarbonisation and climate change adaptation challenges and opportunities in that sub-sector.

Innovation sessions will introduce delegates to existing solutions and innovators.

Sponsors

Gold Sponsor

Ampcontrol bring their engineering expertise, advanced manufacturing capabilities and ongoing commitment to R&D to maritime electrification. They cover a wide range of needs, from shore infrastructure supporting power distribution, to marinised megawatt chargers, to onboard hybrid or fully battery electric power systems. Nationwide 24/7 service capabilities give peace of mind that they can support solutions anywhere in Australia.

As a MERC Founding Member, they have been involved in significant R&D and pilot projects already, most notably the hybrid Steber vessel with fellow MERC Founding Member Steber International.

Gold Sponsor

Refuelling Solutions is leading the way towards more sustainable maritime fuels by providing biofuels, such as biodiesel and renewable diesel (HVO100), to maritime operators where they need it, on-site at the dock. Renewable diesel is particularly useful as a drop-in fuel that can replace mineral diesel and that significantly reduces the greenhouse gas emissions.

As a MERC Founding Member, they have been involved in significant pilot projects already, most notably fueling the hybrid electric Steber vessel and commercial fishing vessels with renewable diesel (HVO100).

Silver Sponsor

Tidetech are a passionate team of mariners, oceanographers and innovative developers based in Hobart. From international shipping to navigation systems and yacht racing, their data powers better decisions at sea. Tidetech provides data for tides, currents, waves, ocean temperature, salinity, and ocean weather across the globe.

As a MERC Member they have demonstrated the value of their marine data in route optimisation, especially when transiting choke points with complex tidal interactions. Shipping needs to become more efficient, and Tidetech offers a very real part of the answer, even for short sea domestic voyages.

Energy Sponsor

GreenPower is matching 100% of the conference's electricity use with accredited renewable electricity, supporting Australia's renewable energy transition.
