We want to… / Decarbonise our business
Discover your baseline GHG emissions
Whenever you are measuring how much improvement you make to a process, or a statistic, it is important to verify that you know what your starting point us, and establish that you can accurately measure the type of improvement you want to make.
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions might come from many different parts of your organisation’s operations, so often the best place to start in decarbonising is to establish what your organisation’s current Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions are. Agreeing what the boundaries will be for each of those is important, especially for the Scope 3 emissions.
The sorts of steps you can take to help with this is:
GHG emissions audit
Get a GHG emissions audit done to establish your organisation’s emissions for a specific baseline year.Emission records improvements
Often a GHG emissions audit will reveal that there is data missing which would help establish a GHG emissions baseline. In some cases the first step needs to be an improvement of the way the underlying data is recorded to help establish the GHG emissions.
